The Pinhoti Trail from here to the Georgia Line was built and is maintained by the Alabama Trails Association on an easement donated by the Gerald Willis family of Piedmont, Alabama and on land purchased by the Alabama Forever Wild Land Trust.

17 March 2007: Ongoing logging on Davis Mountain forces a temporary closure from Highpoint to Salem Church Road.

2 April 2011: University of West Georgia Geosciences department. Geologic mapping of the Borden Springs quad. Found Quartzite overlain by quartz Arenite and Bird Shot Conglomerate. Trying to find the old mine for fossils.
